Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ today announces the appointment of Robert M. Tykal as President
BLOOMFIELD, Conn., January 22, 2007 – Jacobs Vehicle Systems ™ (www.jakebrake.com – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation – NYSE: DHR) today announces the appointment of Robert (Rob) M. Tykal as President, Jacobs Vehicle Systems by Phil Knisely, Executive Vice President, Danaher Corporation. Rob succeeds Scott Wine, who was recently appointed President at Veeder-Root, a Danaher Corporation Company.
Rob joined Danaher in October and has completed an extensive orientation process to get to know Danaher and Danaher Business System processes and tools.
Prior to joining Danaher, Rob spent four years with MTU Drive Shafts, LLC where he was the President and CEO leading formation and start-up activities in Charleston, SC. MTU Drive Shafts began as a wholly-owned subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler but, as of December 2005, the company was acquired by EQT Partners. MTU is a $79M tier 1 automotive facility.
Prior to MTU, Rob was employed by Detroit Diesel Corporation for 18 years. During Rob’s tenure at DDC, he served as Vice President & General Manager leading the Series 2000 and 4000 business units with $200M in sales. Rob played a key role in leading international joint development of two new engine families with German partners to enhance their global market. During his 18 years with DD, Rob held various positions of increasing responsibility in Production, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, and General Management.
Rob earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. Rob, along with his wife and three daughters, will be relocating from South Carolina to the Hartford area in the near future.
