Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ chosen by DAF Trucks Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ to supply complete engine brake and overhead technology for the PACCAR MX.
Bloomfield, CT, January 18 , 2006 -- Jacobs Vehicle Systems has been chosen by DAF Trucks N.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of PACCAR, Inc to supply the complete overhead, including the engine brake, for the OEM’s new Euro IV compliant MX engine. The MX Engine is the powerplant for the new DAF XF 105 flagship model introduced at the RAI show in Amsterdam this month.
“Under our arrangement with PACCAR and DAF, Jacobs will supply engine brakes and rocker arm assemblies for all MX engines,” said Bob Perkins, Vice President Marketing, Jacobs Vehicle Systems. “By supplying the engine brake and entire overhead for the MX model, advanced technology from Jacobs will become an integral part of the next generation PACCAR engines.”
DAF Trucks and Jacobs listened to the drivers and are delivering braking power where they need it most, in the mid-range. The new engine brake will generate 100 percent more retarding power in the 1,400 to 1,800 rpm range than the current XEC engine. At 2,100 rpms the engine will yield a maximum braking power of 320kW.
DAF Trucks announced the new generation of Paccar MX engines at the 2004 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany late last year, calling the newly designed model ground-breaking in terms of fuel economy, reliability, durability and performance.
