CAT Brakes Product Support Agreement Between Caterpillar Inc. and Jacobs Vehicle Systems
BLOOMFIELD, CT., September 3, 1997 -- Caterpillar Inc. and Jacobs Vehicle Systems announced today an initiative on parts, service and warranty support of auxiliary engine brake systems for Cat Truck Engines.
"A high percentage of Caterpillar Engines are delivered to end users equipped with a JakeBrakeŽ brand compression release or exhaust brake," stated Jim Parker, General Manager of Caterpillar's Truck Engine Division. "Because Caterpillar and Jacobs share a strong commitment on customer satisfaction, it only makes sense that we work closer together to provide the best support services to our mutual customers."
Per this initiative, JakeBrakeŽ brand products and replacement parts will be available through out the worldwide Caterpillar parts distribution system. The Caterpillar dealer network will support customers and OEM truck dealers with parts support, warranty administration and technical support services for Caterpillar truck engines equipped with JakeBrakeŽ brand products. The above is effective starting October 1, 1997.
"Jacobs and Caterpillar have a long standing and very beneficial relationship," according to Greg Davies, President of Jacobs Vehicle Systems. "This initiative will strengthen that relationship and ensure outstanding products and support for our mutual engine and auxiliary brake customers."
Jacobs products have been available for Cat Truck Engines since 1978 and have been offered as factory installed options since 1987. Over 365,000 JakeBrakeŽ brand systems are in use today in Cat Truck Engines.
