PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New show booth & museum to premier at Mid-America Truck Show, Louisville, KY.

BLOOMFIELD, Conn., March 3, 2002 -- Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ (www.jakebrake.com--a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation - NYSE: DHR) today announces a new face to the trucking public at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, KY.

"A new presence will be seen at booth #4410 in the Kentucky Fairgrounds & Exhibition Center" states Vice President of Marketing & Business Development Robert Perkins. "Jacobs has had tremendous success with the Jake Brake® retarder / Jacobs Engine Brake™ products. We celebrated our 40th year of production and the shipment of our 2,500,000th brake kit. So, we decided to collect some examples and stories from our roots display them in a mini-museum at our booth to show just what Jacobs has accomplished for the North American trucking industry over the years."

The 25' x 30' booth features a miniature "Jake Brake® Museum" inside the central exhibit structure, featuring the original prototype of Clessie L. Cummins' engine brake idea. The idea for an engine brake came to Clessie while trucking down Cajon Pass in California back in the 1930's while proving the endurance of his diesel engine. He always felt the diesel engine should work for the driver on both sides of the hill. Business Development Manager Brian Mauriello adds "On display are several early examples of the compression-release brake as well as other displays from our past."

"While we've been enhancing vehicle control for commercial vehicle drivers worldwide, we've been simultaneously investing heavily into 'spin-off' technologies based on precision engine valve actuation, which will not only help with vehicle speed control, but with fuel economy, emissions, and positive power performance. It may be a few years before the trucking public gets to enjoy these new benefits, but we want the world to know that we've been helping for four decades, and we will continue to help the industry."
