BLOOMFIELD, Conn., April 9, 2001 -- Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ (www.jakebrake.com--a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation - NYSE: DHR) today announces the appointment of Brian Burnett as President, Jacobs Vehicle Systems by Phil Knisely, Executive Vice President, Danaher Corporation.

Brian will have general management responsibility for all strategic and operational aspects of JVS, which will include continued focus on managing costs while creating opportunities to grow the business.

Brian will lead the current management team at JVS including Bob Perkins, Business Team Vice President and General Manager; Dave Smith, Business Team Vice President and General Manager; Victor Swint, Business Team Vice President and General Manager; Gerard Habib, Vice President; Adish Jain, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer; Susan Coyne, Director, Aftermarket and E-Business; Debbie LeMay, Director, Operations; Richard Wachter, Director, Human Resources; and, Shelley Roop, Vice President, Finance.

Since 1997, Brian has been Vice President of Operations and Petroleum Products General Manager, Veeder-Root in Altoona, Pennsylvania where he has substantially grown Veeder-Root's Simplicity and service businesses revenues by leading the service operations and growth in Simsbury, CT. In Altoona, he significantly improved delivery performance and developed a leadership team highly committed to the Danaher Business System (DBS). In addition to his operations responsibility, Brian had full profit and loss responsibility for Veeder-Root's Petroleum Products Business including global sales and marketing. Under his leadership, Veeder-Root maintained margins on product lines that are in decline. Brian also led the evaluation and launch of new products that will increase overall sales. He has been an integral part of the overall Strategic Plan and Service Strategy.

Prior to joining the Veeder-Root team, Brian was the Danaher Tool Group Plant Manager in Gastonia, North Carolina where he worked from 1995 through 1997. He joined Danaher after a very successful 14-year career in General Electric Company where he progressed through manufacturing, materials, and quality management assignments in their Appliance business. His last position with GE was as Plant Manager of a motors facility.

Brian holds a BSME from the University of Maine, and an MBA from Ball State University. He and his wife Julie, and daughters Molly and Katie will soon relocate to the Bloomfield, CT area from Pennsylvania. The diversity of Brian's experience coupled with his in-depth knowledge of DBS and leadership skills will be great assets to leverage at JVS.
