NEW TURBO-MOUNT™ JACOBS EXHAUST BRAKE™ FOR CAT 3126B
Direct mounting and less parts simplifies the installation
BLOOMFIELD, Conn., April 14, 2000 -- Jacobs Vehicle Systems™ (www.jakebrake.com--a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation - NYSE: DHR) announces the release of its newest product in an expanding exhaust brake product line. The turbo-mounted brake designed for application on the Caterpillar 3126B engine has less parts since it mounts directly to the turbocharger, resulting in very simple installation. The exhaust brake is the result of a coordinated effort with Caterpillar engineers to assure optimum performance and durability of the brake and the engine.
Availability
For aftermarket placement on an existing 3126B, contact your local Caterpillar parts dealer and ask for kit # 177-9547. The Jacobs Exhaust Brake™ for the Caterpillar 3126B is available as a factory option from Freightliner Custom Chassis.
Additional Benefits
Drivers will also notice faster exhaust brake response due to its proximity to the turbocharger. By mounting the brake directly to the turbocharger's turbine housing, Jacobs and Caterpillar anticipate some long term benefits, including cleaner operation and improved reliability. Additionally, the butterfly does not need to be adjusted for engine backpressure limits. Utilizing a sealed air cylinder promotes longer life as no foreign material can enter the cylinder. The Jacobs Exhaust Brake™ for the 3126B is warranted through Caterpillar for 5 years/150,000 miles.
